Zodiac
A classic spinning flat ride - the wheel spins until centrifugal force holds you in place, then tilts to vertical.
About Zodiac
Zodiac is a Huss Enterprise-type flat ride - one of the most widely recognised designs in fairground and theme park history. Riders sit in gondolas arranged around the rim of a large wheel. The wheel spins, building speed until centrifugal force presses riders firmly into their seats and holds them in place. Once at speed, the entire wheel tilts upward to a near-vertical position - at which point riders are briefly upside-down before the wheel tilts back and the speed gradually reduces.
The Enterprise format has been in use since the 1970s and remains popular because the sensation it produces - being pinned to your seat by g-force while rotating - is both accessible and genuinely intense. Zodiac is the park's version and sits comfortably in the mid-tier of the thrill lineup.
What to Expect
The ride builds slowly at first as the wheel accelerates, then becomes increasingly intense as centrifugal force accumulates. By the time the wheel tilts to near-vertical, the g-forces are strong enough that riders cannot easily lift their arms or head. The brief inversion at the top is more disorienting than a roller coaster inversion because you're moving in a circle rather than along a track - there's no obvious direction of travel to orient yourself by.
Zodiac is smoother than it looks from outside and is a good introduction to inverted sensations for riders who haven't tried a looping coaster yet.
Tips for Riding Zodiac
- Good entry-level inversion experience. If you want to experience the sensation of being upside-down without committing to a full looping coaster, Zodiac is a lower-stakes way to try it.
- Centrifugal force is the main sensation. Unlike drop rides or coasters, the primary experience here is being pressed into your seat - not speed or height. A different kind of intensity.
- Short cycles, fast loading. Zodiac runs efficiently and queues move quickly. Rarely a long wait even on busy days.
- Empty your pockets. At full speed, anything unsecured will be pressed hard into the seat with you - uncomfortable, and potentially lost if it slips free.
