Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Thorpe Park queue times, rides, and planning your visit.
How often are queue times updated?
Queue times on this site are collected every 2 minutes from ThemeParks.wiki, which pulls data directly from Thorpe Park's live system. The timestamp at the top of the queue page shows exactly when the last snapshot was taken.
Is Thorpe Park busy today?
The quickest way to check is the live queue times page - real-time wait times for all 22 rides, updated every 5 minutes. If the major coasters (Stealth, Hyperia, Colossus) are showing 30+ minute waits, the park is busy. Walk-on or under 10 minutes means a quiet day. Weekdays in term time are consistently the quietest; summer weekends and bank holidays are the busiest. See the full crowd guide for typical wait times by day and season.
What is the longest queue at Thorpe Park?
On busy days, Stealth, Hyperia, and Colossus regularly hit 60–90 minute waits. SAW – The Ride and The Swarm also build long queues mid-afternoon. Check the live queue page to see the current situation before committing to a queue.
What are the best rides at Thorpe Park?
Hyperia is Thorpe Park's newest and tallest coaster - a 72m hyper coaster with a 90-degree drop. Stealth is the UK's fastest launch coaster, going 0–80mph in under 2 seconds. Colossus was the world's first 10-loop roller coaster. The Swarm is a winged coaster with near-miss special effects. Nemesis Inferno is a suspended looping coaster and consistently rated one of the park's best by regular visitors.
When is Thorpe Park least busy?
The quietest periods are weekdays in term time - especially September and October after schools return. Tuesday and Wednesday are typically the least busy days of the week. Early morning, just after opening, always has the shortest queues regardless of the day. The Best Time to Visit heatmap on the queue page shows average wait times by hour, built from the last 28 days of real data.
Does Thorpe Park have height restrictions?
Yes. Most major coasters require a minimum height of 1.4m. Stealth, Colossus, Hyperia, The Swarm, SAW – The Ride, and Nemesis Inferno all require 1.4m. The Walking Dead: The Ride requires 1.2m. Flying Fish requires 0.9m (or 0.7m with a supervising adult). Some attractions have upper height or weight limits too. Always check the official Thorpe Park rides page before visiting, as restrictions can change.
Is Thorpe Park open all year?
No. Thorpe Park is a seasonal park, typically open from late March through to early November. It also opens for Fright Nights in October (one of the UK's biggest Halloween events) and sometimes for select winter dates. Check the official park calendar for the exact dates in the current season - the park is closed on many weekdays outside school holidays.
How do I get to Thorpe Park?
By car: Thorpe Park is directly off Junction 11 of the M25 in Chertsey, Surrey (KT16 8PN). On-site parking is available but charged, and fills quickly on busy days - arrive early. By train: South Western Railway runs from London Waterloo to Staines, from where a seasonal shuttle bus serves the park. Check National Rail for live train times. The 950 Thorpe Park Express coach service also runs from central London stops on operating days.
Is Fast Track worth buying at Thorpe Park?
On busy days - weekends, bank holidays, school holidays - Fast Track can save 45–60 minutes per ride on the major coasters. If you have a limited amount of time and want to ride Stealth, Hyperia, and Colossus multiple times, it is usually worth the cost. On quieter weekdays in term time, queues are short enough that Fast Track is rarely necessary. Check the live wait times on arrival to decide.
Can I bring food and drink into Thorpe Park?
Thorpe Park generally does not allow outside food and drink to be brought into the park, with the exception of sealed water bottles and food required for medical or dietary reasons. There are numerous food outlets inside the park, though prices are typical of a major theme park. Always check the current policy on the Thorpe Park park rules page before you visit.
What should I do if a ride is closed?
Ride closures at Thorpe Park are common - they happen for routine maintenance, technical issues, weather conditions, or low staffing. This site shows each ride's live status, so you can see which rides are operating before walking across the park. If a ride you specifically want to experience is closed, it is worth checking back later in the day as rides often reopen after a short downtime.
